Nabha Jailbreak: Harminder Singh Mintoo, KLF Chief, caught in Delhi

After a sensational jailbreak in Punjab, Harminder Singh Mintoo, Khalistani terrorist was caught in Delhi, 24 hours later. However, the others prisoners are still at large.

According to a report, he was tracked down at Delhi’s Nizamuddin Railway station, with his beard and moustache trimmed making him difficult to recognise. From Nizamuddin he was planning to travel to Mumbai and then on to Goa.

Claiming to be bringing back two handcuffed men after a court hearing, a dozen men dressed as policemen reached the gates of Nabha jail a little before 9 am on Sunday. On gaining entry, they managed to snatch a rifle from a policeman and fired over 100 rounds.

In a span of 10 minutes from reaching the prison, the men managed to free and drive off with the gangsters they came to rescue. This indicated that the men may have been well versed with the insides of the jail and knew their way about.

While on the hunt, about 25 kilometres from the prison the police opened fire at a car near a check-post, killing a woman. The police later admitted that was a mistake.

Mintoo came into Delhi on a bus from about 90 km near Haryana, where he was dropped off after breaking out.

According to Parwinder Singh Pinda, one of the men involved who was caught last evening, Mintoo was not a part of the plan but found out about it and tagged along.

Mintoo is chief of the banned Khalistan Liberation Force and is accused in more than 10 terror cases. One of the cases he was accused in was the attack on Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim. The Punjab police has alleged that Mintoo in touch with Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence officers and was trying to revive the Khalistan separatist movement.
