Paytm introduces local-based services to assist sellers to reach markets

Aiming to further consolidate its seller marketplace, digital payments and e-commerce platform Paytm has now introduced local-based services that will help sellers in cataloguing, documentation and loan applications.

Sudhanshu Gupta, vice-president of Paytm, said, “We are working on all the translation in-house. Sellers can add new products, manage inventory and orders, and get payment details in the regional language app.”

“We have seen about 20% adoption of the regional language app, which is currently available in Hindi and will soon be available in 6 more Indian languages,” added Gupta.

Automation and providing end-to-end seller services have worked quite well for marketplaces like Flipkart, which launched its Seller Hub last year, and ShopClues, which launched its Merchant Central programme. It will, however, be for the first time that information will be provided to sellers in local languages across functions.

Paytm has started seller services that provide cataloguing services, business documentation, packaging material, etc. There are over 150 such service providers across the country.

Paytm claims to work with 1.2 lakh sellers and has tied up with 150 seller services providers to create a centralised system for seller assistance.

The marketplace had also launched its seller app in Hindi earlier this year and has seen 40,000 monthly active users for the interface.
