Foodtech startup IdeaChakki raises fundings from Ratan Tata

Aiming to primarily expand into new geography along with building a new in-house team and strengthening the technology, Delhi-based footech venture IdeaChakki has raised an undisclosed amount of funding from Ratan Tata.

The development was reported by Business Standard.

Gunjan Mehrish, co-founder IdeaChakki, said, “Ratan Tata’s validation of the idea will help in attracting more investors as his experience in managing and running the Taj Group of hotels cannot be overlooked. Moreover, we are looking forward for our next round of funding through Enablers.”

Ratan Tata has recently been investing in many startups. In June 2016, it invested an undisclosed amount in e-ticketing portal Kyazoonga, which was made in his personal capacity.

Prior to that, Tata invested in San Francisco-based medical emergency response startup MUrgency Inc in May 2016. This year he has invested in NestAway technologies, FirstCry, CashKaro, Tracxn, Dogspot, Lenskart, Teabox, Invictus Technology, SnapBizz.

He is also reportedly launching a venture capital fund for startups.

The interactive app of IdeaChakki enables users to load to the restaurant screen and make choices according to their dietary preferences. There are also short videos explaining everything from how the dish is made to small notes ranging from pronunciation to origin of the dish.

Founded by three former NDTV executives, Monica Narula, Noopur Tiwari and Gunjan Mehrish, IdeaChakki is currently targetting premium restaurants in Delhi NCR.
