Ratan Tata, Tata Sons’ Chairman Emeritus has made an undisclosed investment in specialty tea company Teabox. This is the most recent, in a series of investments made by the corporate mogul.
Teabox is a specialty tea company that sources tea from Darjeeling, Assam, Nilgiris and Nepal. The company then brands the tea and distributes it worldwide via its online platform.
So far the company has raised $7 million. In the Series A funding in March 2015, it raised $6 million. In a statement, Teabox Founder and CEO Kaushal Dugar said, “We have grown up admiring and respecting Mr. Ratan Tata’s vision and business acumen on scaling the Tata group to a global level. His direct guidance and experience in the tea industry will surely help us grow Teabox to be the first global premium tea brand from India”.
Ratan Tata has been investing aggressively in start-ups since last year. Ola, Snapdeal, Urban Ladder, Bluestome, Xiaomi are aosme of his recent investments.
