A study conducted by WhichApp, a mobile application which helps users discover other new applications that their friends use has said that social networking giant Facebook and messaging application WhatAapp are the most popular in India.
Truecaller and UC Browser also fall in the top five most popular applications that Indians use, according to the study. MX Player, Flipkart, Candy Crush, Applock and Naukri.com are other apps that are popular among Indians.
WhichApp claims that its platform has helped in the discovery of more than 20,000 applications. The number of WhichApp users using and having a particular app has been the basis for the study. The applications which have been used at least once in a month have been taken into account for the study.
WhichApp co-founder and CEO Kapil Chawla told The Indian Express, “Our future plans are to localise for vernacular languages for the non-English speaking audience and rollout in other countries as the application is only available in India right now. The aim is to have 10 million users by December 2016”. Presently, the application has 100,000 users in India.
