In an attempt to offer support to finesse musical talent amongst students, and a hope to generate employment, Nagaland’s government-owned organization Music Task Force is driven to set up a music institute in Jotsoma, which happens to be on the border of Kohima, in the first week of December. The institution, which will be called Centre of Excellence For Performance Arts and Music, aims to offer courses in sound engineering, music arrangement, music composition and a set of other developmental classes pertaining to the field music.
Music Task Force, the country’s only institute dedicated to promoting music, runs under the chairmanship of Gukhato Chisi. Chisi considers this school a venue that will be meant for not only the young but anyone with a penchant for learning. Promotional activities, workshops, seminars and a score of other activities will enable eager beavers of the music world to channelize their skills and perhaps, reach a much higher level of recognition.
Previously, the Music Task Force took credit for launching a monthly gig series with the same motive in Kohima, Dimapur and Mokokchang.
