Wondering when’s the right time to book flights? Fare Intelligence for predictions and alerts

Ixigo has introduced a new feature called ‘Fare Intelligence’ which uses past trends and prices that makes suggestions on whether a user should book a flight or wait for fares to drop further. The travel metasearch company bundles two main functions – ‘Fare Prediction’ & ‘Fare Alerts’ to offer users the best rates while booking flights. Users also get regular notifications on price drops to inform them when is the right time to book flights.

While reports suggest that compared to the same period in 2016, international air fares, in specific, have seen a dip in India influenced by increased capacity and new players entering. However, airlines do have the tendency of jacking up prices at certain times and the HC has even asked the Central Government for a response on capping airfares.

Hence, something like this could be of great help to both – frequent flyers and those that aren’t. ixigo came up with the fare prediction feature to remove the pain point of customers having to wait on a ‘guess’ for booking flights or finding relatively higher priced tickets in the first search. The technology lets users make their decisions without haste and saves them money. the travel search app will now be suggesting users wait for almost 70% of the times after flight search.

In addition to the websites, Ixigo Fare Intelligence is available on iOS and Android versions of the ixigo flights app. The fare predictions are currently available  for a travel date of upto 30 days in the future.

Speaking on the feature, Rajnish Kumar, ixigo CTO & Co-Founder said, “We believe gaining user loyalty is much more important than driving immediate conversions, which will be possible only if we help them make booking decisions that are in their best interest.”
