PM Modi and Benjamin Netanyahu launch iCreate centre to nurture entrepreneurship

The International Centre for Entrepreneurship and Technology (iCreate) will provide entrepreneurs with space, mentors, funds and other facilities.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the iCreate centre in Ahmedabad’s Deo Dholera Village alongside his Israeli counterpart Benjamin Netanyahu. The two are also expected to interact with startups and their CEOs when they visit a startup exhibition in the city.

The aim of the iCreate centre is to bring benefits to the Indian youth basis lessons from Israel’s experiences of their startup environment.

During his address at the event, Prime Minister Modi pointed out that Israel has influenced the world with their technology and creativity and added his confidence in the Indian youth also making their mark in the world of innovations. “Israel has proved it to the world that commitment of the people, and not the size of the nation, takes the country forward”, he added.

He went to say that the centre is putting in efforts to make the entire country innovation-friendly which would lead to a ‘New India’. He continued, “Never stop dreaming and never let the dreams die. It is good for children to have high curiosity quotient.”

Both Prime Ministers are also expected to award 38 entrepreneurial projects from both countries – 18 from India and 20 from Israel.

The International Centre for Entrepreneurship and Technology (iCreate), is a public-private partnership venture by the Government of Gujarat. It will provide entrepreneurs with space, mentors, funds and other facilities.
