Rock Street Journal resurrects its RSJ Live Nites: Jaga Jazzist in upcoming December 5th gig

RSJ Live Nites with acclaimed Norwegian experimental jazz band Jaga Jazzists

RSJ Live Nites is an initiative by the grand daddy of the alternative music culture circuit Rock Street Journal to encourage people to come and become patrons of alternative music. Post a hiatus which extended over several years, Rock Street Journal has started its live nights a couple of months back with an all metal night that had gone off successfully. Following up on that, they have Jaga Jazzists for their latest live night version. The Scandinavian Nu-jazz scientists Jaga Jazzists are flying down to perform at Zorba coming Thursday. New songs are to be expected, for the jazz enthusiasts out there, from their latest album “Live with the Britten Sinfonia”. Soul’D Out, Delhi’s jazz/blues/funk act will be opening the evening before them.

Jaga Jazzists were the experimental jazz band that shot up in its popularity post BBC declaring their album to be the best one of all jazz albums in 2002. Jaga Jazzists are not shy of dabbling into discordant genres of music and their debut album “Jævla Jazzist Grete Stitz” had a humourous tinge to jazz and even elements of rap. The core of the band brothers Lars and Martin Horntveth are also a major part of the Norwegian pop act The National Bank. Based out of Norway, Jaga Jazzists will perform at Zorba in Delhi on December 5, and Blue Frog in Mumbai on December 7 as part of their tour, post which they fly down to Istanbul, Turkey.
