Watch: Laxmi Bomb’s New Music Video

A mundane corporate office setup sees visuals of a troubled man, walking about purposelessly, smoking his more-than-tobacco cigarette and watching a video of Sunny Leone in the conference room. Until all of a sudden, he breaks into a whip-wielding, rose-coloured glasses-wearing renegade who beats himself up in public milieus. The video tells a well-imagined story of whip-lashers that abound the city of Mumbai who make a living by publicly whipping their bare bodies.

Such is the imagery depicted in electro-pop collective Laxmi Bomb’s latest video for the track “Major Major” from their recently released four-track debut EP H(Om) (listen here). Laxmi Bomb, as the members describe it, is the ‘love child’ of Levin Mendes (drummer of Bombay Bassment), raised by her brother Keegan Pereira (vocalist with Aftertaste) and Joaquim Fernandes (on keys) who baby sits. The electro collective came into being in late 2013 and made a grand entry into the indie circuit with powerhouse performances at the crowd-funded gig Control-Alt-Delete and the fortnightly gig series Bomb Thursdays.
