French Tech Ticket Season 2 kick-starts

French Tech Ticket, which is responsible for the vibrant international start-up and innovation ecosystem in France, is back with its second season.

The French Tech Ticket Season 2 is a global competition, which is open to entrepreneurs with start-ups in the creation or growth phase. After a highly successful Season 1 that welcomed 23 start-up teams in Paris from 23 countries around the world including India, the second season is aiming higher this time round with 70 teams.

Each winning team will be awarded €45,000 in prize money and will be hosted in France by more than 40 high-calibre incubators for one full year starting January 2017. France has been driving a bold start-up policy for some years now and has emerged as one of the leading host countries today for the world’s most innovative companies.

The French Tech is a tech start-up ecosystem that was created by the French government three years ago. It helps start-ups by providing them with optimal conditions with a clear goal helping them in turn to scale up their growth and enable them to become global champions.

The three-year-old ecosystem has reached a new high now. With a record number of start-ups, double the amount of capital that has been raised between 2014 and 2015 and numerous companies receiving more than $100 million, it has been booming.

The funding and remarkable initial public offering by companies such as Sigfox, Criteo, BlaBlaCar, DBV Technologies and Cellectis is a clear reflection of that.

With Indian start-ups and entrepreneur talent now more recognised internationally than ever, the French Tech Ticket could be a prime opportunity for them to expand their business and access the European market while being immersed in a booming start-up ecosystem.

There are many factors that bring together France’s success. They include a huge pool of skilled and affordable talent, education with a strong culture of engineers, ambition, a 360-degree financing system with investment, incentives and infrastructure.

American tech giants like Google, Intel, Cisco, Facebook, amongst others, over the past years, have chosen France to develop their future technologies.

Muriel Pénicaud, CEO of Business France, French Ambassador for International Investment, said, “The French Tech ecosystem is made up of entrepreneurs, investors, engineers, designers, developers, associations, bloggers, media and a strong network of incubators.”
