DocsApp raises seed funding worth Rs. 8 crore: round led by Japanese venture capital Rebright Partners

[dropcap]A[/dropcap]iming to expand their operations, DocsApp, online platform that links doctors with patients has raised Rs 8 crore ($1.2 million) with the seed round led by Japanese venture capital firm Rebright Partners and its founding partner Takeshi Ebihara.

Other investors included Anand Rajaraman and Venky Harinarayan, who were  early backers of Facebook.

This is the first seed round for the Bangalore-based company after a small angel round of funding from accelerator GSF India. The money will be used to expand operations as well as the team of 36.

DocsApp was founded in 2015 by two IIT-Madras graduates Satish Kannan and Enbasekar Dinadayalane. The online platform targets opportunities presented by an internet-enabled platform to offer healthcare services online. It has over 80,000 users on its platform with about 15,000 of them using its application at least once a month.

Kannan said, “We will reach more locations and populate the platform with more doctors and expand medicine delivery to 15 from seven cities.”

“IIT Madras’s incubation cell presents budding entrepreneurs in its fold to the vast alumni network of the college, a key contributor to the Facebook investors getting to know about Docsapp,” added Kannan.

Rajaraman and Harinarayan co-founded e-commerce company Junglee two decades back. The duo has since founded two venture funds- Cambrian ventures in 2000 and Milliways Ventures in 2014.
