Uber to launch food delivery service UberEATS in India soon

Cab aggregators Uber has announced that its UberEATS app will soon be launched in India after partnering with local restaurants and they will also have registered couriers – like drivers registered with the company – that will deliver it.

The food delivery service from Uber was first launched in Los Angeles in 2014 and is currently functioning in 58 cities around the world including Bangkok, Hong Kong, Singapore, Taipei, and Tokyo.

It is indicated that the company will first launch UberEATS in big metro cities, like Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Chennai and Kolkata. Allen Penn, Asia Pacific’s head of UberEATS, said, “This is a significant investment, it spans multiple cities and regions, and it has the potential to change the food industry – with the push of a button – in one of the most vibrant food cultures in the world.”

They are currently collecting feedback from customers and asking them to name their favourite restaurants. UberEATS is also inviting restaurants that are interested in signing up as partners along with companies for delivery.

UberEATS will be using the same software as the cab hailing app to connect food outlets to order and deliver food. The app may also enable real-time display of food delivery.
