6over6 enables users to find out the power of the lenses utilized in their spectacles through a smartphone application.

Lenskart invested $1 million in Israel-based startup 6over6 looking to introduce the latter’s technology to Lenskart users in India. The two are partnering to co-develop and test the technology before rolling it out to their markets.

6over6 enables users to find out the power of the lenses utilized in their spectacles through a smartphone application.

Peyush Bansal, founder and CEO, Lenskart.com, said “6over6 is a groundbreaking technology that acts as an auto refractor and lensometer to retrieve the prescription of your eyes and current spectacles using nothing but your smartphone.” He further goes on to say that it would also lead to enhanced online engagement with Lenskart consumers.

Lenskart has already piloted 6over6 technology through the Lenskart Home opticians – who supposedly do more than 1000 appointments in a day. Lenskart.com also receives 10,000 trials per day for its 3D try-on services on its website and application.

Lenskart has about 365 stores across 95 cities in India currently. By March 2018, Lenskart is looking to set up 460 stores selling 400,000 frames every month by March 2018. They also recently made an investment of $1 million, for stake in US-based frame recommendation startup Ditto.
