1 App, 12 Hours of Coding, and 50,000 cash prize – Muvi Hackathon

Muvi is calling all coders for a 12-hour non-stop development marathon – hackathon. If you think you have what it takes, Muvi Hackathon will be giving the winner an exciting cash prize of Rs. 50,000 and job offers along with it.

Looking to highlight hidden talents in and around Odisha, Muvi – as the sole initiator of the hottest streaming industry in Bhubaneswar – has announced Muvi Hackathon to new age developers.

“We’ve seen an abundance of talent in the city (our own CEO hails from Odisha), but somehow people here don’t get that big platform to showcase their talent.” said Pragyan Priyadarshini, CTO, Muvi. She further added, “We take pride in being the first ever global product company, grossly started from the land of Bhubaneswar and now working with clients like Sony, Tata and Universal,” adding “We now believe that it’s time for a give back.”

While all participants get participation certificates, to win the cash prize and possible job offers from Muvi Hackathon, contestants are required to develop and complete Apps within 12 hours. The winner will be decided on quality of code, performance of the product (software) and uniqueness of the product idea.

The theme of the hackathon will be audio/video services and participants will be allowed to experiment on developing any app in web, iOS, Android and even TV domains – including Apple TV, Roku, Amazon Fire, etc.

The contest is open to the entire developer community, there are no criteria for full-time or part-time or even whether employed or not. Muvi is simply looking out for those with a flair of innovation and out-of-the-box thinkers that can develop an app related to audio/video streaming within 12 hours.

“Our small initiative is to feed that talent and let it come out and shine, making a difference for the people as well as the tech field,” added Pragyan.

Sharing love for his homeland and its people, Muvi CEO, Anshuman Das – who operates from Muvi’s head office in New York – said, “It will be interesting to see young developers come out and participate in this Hackathon, coding their ways to success and walk out with a job offer.”

Muvi Hackathon will be held on 11th February, 2017, starting at 8am till 8pm, at MUVI’s local office 3rd floor IDCO Tower 2000(mini tower), Mancheswar Industrial Estate. For registrations and more details, click here.
