Automobile IoT device-making startup Trak N tell is all set to its flagship- Intelli7- this August in Bangalore. It has also tied up with a distributor for the same.
The startup has recently raised an undisclosed amount from WhatsApp co-founder Brain Acton and this expansion to Bangalore is a part of this fund’s utilisation, said Pranshu Gupta, its CEO. A part of the funding will also be used for R&D, marketing and hiring engineers.
Gupta said, “Our research with car insurance companies has shown that there is a car theft rate of 15% in Bengaluru (of the total car population), which is even more than in Delhi. We also did an online survey with 200 car owners from Bangalore, which showed that more than 70% do not have safety mechanisms to prevent such thefts. We realised there is a big need for our product in this city.”
The product was found last December. It offers features such as tracking, immobiliser, car finder and notifications, along with SIM cards from leading telecom companies.
Apart from Delhi-NCR, where the product will be available in retail stores, Bangalore is the other city. The device is, however, already available on e-commerce platforms.
Gupta also mentioned that the device will be available in retail car accessory stores in Bangalore in a couple of weeks and will also put together a team in there, its first such team outside of Delhi-NCR.
Trak N Tell was founded Gupta in 2007, when it had products for child trackers on school buses, as well as BPO vehicles. Today, Trak n Tell mainly serves individual car owners (70%) while also catering to fleets.
The startup has invested heavily and built its own hardware and software solution.
