Looking to train half a million Indians, Facebook launches Digital, Startup Training Hubs

India is the first country this is rolled out to and the curriculum has been developed along with local organisations like Digital Vidya, EDII, DharmaLife and Startup India.

Social media giant, Facebook has launched Facebook Digital Training and Facebook Startup Training Hubs in India. It enables personalised online learning for digital skills aimed at individuals and small businesses.

According to the company’s statement, the objective of the online training hubs are to train more than half a million people in India by 2020. India is the first country this is rolled out to and the curriculum has been developed along with local organisations like Digital Vidya, EDII, DharmaLife and Startup India. Facebook will provide digital skills and training, advise entrepreneurs and help existing businesses and non-profits maximise their outcome from the online world.

Ritesh Mehta, Head of Programs, Facebook, India & South Asia, said in a statement, “We want more people to be have the opportunity to build their skills, build a business or build something for their community — because investing in people can lead to incredible things.”

The curriculum will be available on mobile in Hindi and English and will be personalised to an individual’s needs. It would include vital skills required for digital and tech entrepreneurs, guidance on how to protect ideas, tips on how to hire, how to get funding, legal hurdles to consider, building an online reputation and more.



“A great idea is just a beginning, success will only be achieved if we support entrepreneurs to build the business skills they need to secure sustainable business growth,” Deepak Bagla, Managing Director & CEO Invest India, added.

Facebook Digital Training Hub would provide social and content marketing tips for free, for anyone from students to business owners. Social media basics, building and creating an audience, how to create content, measuring online activity and more are a part of the Facebook Digital Training Hub.

The Facebook Startup Training Hub will focus on helping developers and tech startups build better businesses and products. Its curriculum will consist of building a business plan, how to build a product and grow a business. These will also include idea protection, regulations, business planning, hiring, market research, funding and company expansion.
