MG Motor India Launches Season 5.0 of MG Developer Program and Grant, Focusing on AI Advancements in Electric Mobility

MG Motor India has taken a giant leap towards fostering innovation and technological advancements in the automotive industry with the announcement of Season 5.0 of the MG Developer Program and Grant (MGDP). In partnership with Startup India and Manthan, this season, themed ‘Artificial Intelligence in Electric Mobility,’ seeks to propel the nation into the forefront of cutting-edge developments in the automotive landscape.




Launched in 2019, MGDP has evolved into a dynamic collaboration involving Startup India, Manthan (Office of PSA), AWS, Exicom Telesystems, Lohum, and DRIIV. The program aims to provide startups and innovators with a robust platform, encouraging them to create innovative applications and experiences for MG and its customers.

Gaurav Gupta, Deputy Managing Director, MG Motor India, emphasized the company’s commitment to driving innovation through active collaboration with startups. “Our commitment extends to fostering industrialization, solidifying our role in transformative change in the automotive landscape. MGDP 5.0 emphasizes Artificial Intelligence in Electric mobility, facilitating knowledge exchange among participants and think tanks and positioning India as a pivotal hub for innovation and technology. As a brand, we actively encourage change and cultivate innovative mindsets,” he stated.

The event marked a significant moment with the presence of Dr. Sapna Poti, Director, Office of the Principal Scientific Adviser to the Government of India. Dr. Poti applauded the initiative, stating, “This program goes beyond just fostering ideas; it’s a catalyst for creating a greener, smarter mobility landscape. We will eagerly await the impactful collaborations arising out of this initiative, which will be uploaded on the Manthan platform of our office.”

Aastha Grover, Head of Startup India, highlighted the role of innovation and technology in driving growth across sectors. “The power of AI has the potential to revolutionize the way we move, ensuring safer, more efficient, and environmentally conscious transportation solutions. Through this program, MG is nurturing some of the finest and most talented innovators who hold the potential to transform the face of the automotive industry,” she said.

MGDP, over the past five years, has mentored more than 1,450 startups in various fields, ranging from Connected Car technology to electric mobility. The program has been supported by influential partners such as Jio, SAP, Exicom, among others. More than 100 experts, including the leadership of MG India and partners within the technology ecosystem, have contributed to the mentorship process.

This year, MG Motor India has shortlisted 34 promising startups through the MG Developer Program and Grant. These startups are actively engaged in pilot projects with the company, reflecting MG’s commitment to driving innovation beyond ideation. The company aspires to take the leadership position in Artificial Intelligence in Electric Mobility by supporting the ecosystem and creating a pipeline of new ideas and stories for customers in India.

The launch of MGDP Season 5.0 marks a significant milestone in the ongoing efforts to transform the automotive industry through collaborative innovation and cutting-edge technology. As the program progresses, it is poised to make substantial contributions to the development of AI-driven solutions for electric mobility, reinforcing India’s position as a global hub for automotive innovation.
