5 Famous Hindi Songs That Were Lifted Effortlessly

Plagiarism does not seem to be a non-bailable offence when it comes to picking up music in the Hindi film industry. Not even a punishable one. If there was any shame left in the lifters, a lot of the big music producers would be covering their faces for far longer than Manoj Kumar did in any of his movies. Take a look at 5 songs that bear an almost complete resemblance to the original song produced in another far-off land. One does not call these inspirations.

Pritam  Pehli Nazar Mein – Race

Music composerPritam is no newbie to the world of copyingmusic. If one could put all the songs he’s lifted together, he could give The Great Khali’s weight-lifting skill a run for his money. The song, which featured in the film Race with Saif Ali Khan and AkshayKhanna, was a note by note copy of a Korean song “SarangHaeYo”.

Shantanu moitra 1 edit Pal Pal – Lage Raho Munnabhai

Who thought Shantanu Moitra would drop to the desperation of picking up music without at least giving it a tweak? Well, he did, when he photocopied Cliff Richard’s ageless track “Theme for a Dream” into “Pal Pal” from Rajkuma rHirani’s film LageRahoMunnabhai, which Vidya Balan sings with so much innocence. Hope someone told her the truth after the shoot at least.

himesh reshammiya Dillagi – Aashiq Banaya Aapne

An Ali Zafar song getting picked up is as shameful as Veena Malik mistaking January 26, India’s republic day, for the day of the 26/11 attacks, in an interview. Especially because Zafar moved to the Hindi film industry as a musician, bidding his solo indie-hood farewell, to eventually try his hand out at acting.Himesh Reshammiya was the brain behind the song-copying act to “Dillagi” from Aashiq Banaya Aapne.

mcguire sisters edit  Dil Deke Dekho – Dil Deke Dekho

Mohammad Rafi’s splendid voice and Shammi Kapoor’s stunning antics make up the video of Dil Deke Dekho from the film with the same name. But what’s interesting is the plague of plagiarism went back to the time of early Kapoors. This song, conducted by Usha Khanna, was taken from The McGuire Sisters’ track “Sugar in the morning”. Watch and be boggled at identical twins.

shantanu moitra  Kaisi Paheli – Parineeta

ShantanuMoitra strikes again with the track “KaisiPaheli” from the Saif Ali Khan and Vidya Balan starrer Parineeta. Louis Armstrong might be turning in his grave for the heist he will never know of. Armstrong’s single “A Kiss To Build a Dream On” was the carbon paper which Moitra used to create “KaisiPaheli”. Respect level drops by heaps for Moitra.
