LinkedIn, the professional networking platform has appointed Akshay Kothari as India’s country manager on January 5th, with immediate effect. The platform has more than 400 million user base worldwide and India has one of the largest user base.
Kothari joined LinkedIn in 2013, when the company had acquired Pulse, a company that he had founded and was the CEO of, for almost three years. Kothari will be reporting to Olivier Legrand, managing director for the Asia-Pacific region.
Kothari will be replacing Nisant Rao who had quit the company in October last year. The Press Trust of India reported that in the last two years, Kothari has played a very important role in boosting the numbers of members publishing in LinkedIn from 1,000 to almost 2 million.
“This new role also brings me back full-circle to India, a high growth market where there are ample opportunities to create even more value for our members and clients. Ultimately, my dream for the company is to play an even more significant role in helping transform professionals and businesses in India, and showcase their success to the rest of the world”, Kothari told The Press trust of India.
“India continues to be a strategic market for LinkedIn. While we have come a long way over the past six years in the country, we still have a long runway of opportunities,” Legrand told PTI.
