Amazon Prime Video has stepped into film production with Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar’s Ram Setu, an action-adventure drama. This is the OTT platform’s first major announcement after it faced backlash for the controversial Tandev.

Vijay Subramanium, the head of content at Amazon Prime Video India, said they are delighted to further take a step into co-producing by collaborating with a film that highlights the Indian heritage. Stories that are entrenched in Indian soil have often found an audience not only in India but across the world, and we are delighted to further take a step into co-producing by collaborating with a film that highlights our Indian heritage,” Subramanium said.

The team of Ram Setu, as per The Indian Express, will begin shooting in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh soon. Amazon Prime Video joins Abundantia Entertainment, Lyca Productions and Akshay Kumar’s Cape of Good Films for this venture.

The actor had announced Ram Setu last Diwali, and had said that it would be a bridge between generations past, present and future.
