6 things you should not be doing if you want to be successful

Someone once said, great people don’t do different things, they do things differently. Sometimes stepping out of your comfort zone is the only way to push your limits to learn one’s potential. However, success is fickle, hence, it is not just important to know what you should do, it is equally important to know what you should not be doing.

Here’s 6 things to cut out from your lifestyle in order to reach your goal and be successful:

Doubt yourself

Whenever you begin to feel self-doubt, break it with reason and logic. Doubting oneself has shattered more dreams than creating and is probably the number one reason most people stay stuck where they are.

The ‘right time’ syndrome

There is no such thing as ‘the right time’ and if it does exist then is ‘now’. If you’ve always wanted to do something or start something, start working towards it. You don’t need to dive all in but you do need to take some calculated risks. Don’t hold back because there will always be reasons aka excuses not to.

Not reading to stay updated

One of the best ways to start your journey is to read, learn and stay updated. Learning never stops and successful people are often voracious readers, which helps them stay up-to-date with what’s happening in the world and how to leverage it. You could follow blogs, read news articles and websites which could give you a ton of information that you can learn to deploy.

Not taking actions

While reading up on things that are of interest to you is important, beyond a point it is redundant if you fail to apply it – or at least try. Start devising a plan or strategy toward you goal and initiate your actions. Stop thinking, start doing.

Ambiguous goals

Most people have an image in their minds which is a vague picture of how they would like to be at some time in the future. Vivify your goals and make a blueprint to achieve it. Your life becomes much easier when you have a focused target to work towards.

Giving up

While the key ingredient to success isn’t a secret, only few people actually manage to carry it out – hard work. There is no shortcut to success, it is a long trying road but the battle is what makes it fun. Be persistent, instead of fearing the pain of failure, imagine the joy of success.
