Antaragni is all set to kick off with Day 1 carrying a star-studded ensemble of musicians. Now in its 20th year under this moniker, the annual IIT Kanpur cultural four day festival is raring to go. The events, both professional shows and college competitions, have been spread in a wide range ensuring maximum participation, so make sure you enroll in something!
On Day 1, the festival is inaugurated with a late night event at the L17. However, the fun starts much before that. At 6pm, the auditorium, ground will play host to a mega event. Indian Ocean will go live on stage at sundown to take the show away. Expect them to dish out a few covers as well.
They will be followed by Irish folk rock band, The Bonny Men. Since their formation in January 2011, The Bonny Men have emerged as one of the most talked about and exciting young bands to emerge from the traditional-folk scene in Ireland. Their unique sound features two sets of siblings, both from well-known musical families. Barry Lyons takes on the role of guitar, while on bodhrán is his brother Conor, twice winner of the World Bodhrán Championships. On uilleann pipes is Oireachtas winner Maitiú Ó Casaide and his younger sister Natalie plays the piano. All-Ireland champion Moss Landman is on flute, Turlough Chambers is on fiddle and Adam Whelan is on bouzouki. With such a line-up, expect them to play some native Irish tunes!
Further on, there will also be a gaming zone, antakshari and casino that will be happening be happening at the Media Centre Lawn, so if you’re at the fest, make sure you enjoy the evening to the maximum!
