Myntra takes over mobile app development platform Native5

One of the leading names in the fashion and lifestyle e-commerce sector, Myntra, has announced that it has acquired Native 5, a mobile app development platform. Based in Bengaluru too, Native5 was founded in 2012 by Kunal Abhishek, Barada Sahu, Shamik Dattaand and Manish Priyadarshi and specializes in building tools and services to allow cross-platform app development on the cloud.

The acquisition by Myntra will help the company in improving and expanding its mobile technology team which concentrates on driving transformational changes in the online shopping space. Myntra has not shared any financial details of the deal.

Except Priyadarshi, the rest of the team will now join Myntra to create enriching experiences on the mobile platform.

“We are thrilled to be a part of Myntra’s team. With a strong focus on mobile, Myntra offers us a great opportunity to leverage the capabilities that we have built over the last 3 years,” Native5 Co-founder& CEO Kunal Abhishek said

“We have been aggressively ramping up our product teams (with mobile expertise) and have been constantly on the lookout for quality talent both in India and the Bay area. The Native5 team has built a hybrid development platform for mobile and we are keen to use their expertise to strengthen our mobile offerings,” Myntra Chief Product & Technology Officer Shamik Sharma said.
Myntra had earlier acquired Fitiquette, a San Francisco based technology solution that acted as a state-of-the-art virtual fitting room.
