Drake Finally Reveals What ‘Fear of Missing Out’ Really Is, And It’s Not an Album
Drake has finally pulled back the curtain on his mysterious “Fear of Missing Out” project, and fans expecting another album may be in for a surprise. The Grammy-winning rapper revealed Saturday that “Fear of Missing Out,” or “FOMO,” is a “not-so-short film” arriving September 15. The announcement ends weeks of wild speculation surrounding one of Drake’s most cryptic rollouts of 2026.
The project has already generated enormous curiosity after Drake began teasing “FOMO 2026” on social media. A subsequent image appearing to show a CD cover titled Fear of Missing Out only intensified theories that a new album, tour, or major music release was coming.
Now, Drake has revealed that the answer is something considerably more cinematic.
Drake’s ‘FOMO’ Teaser Sends Fans Into Overdrive
The teaser opens with footage of a man, apparently Drake, speeding across a calm ocean in a neon-green speedboat.
A mysterious female narrator then poses a question about two possible versions of life.
One involves avoiding risk and withholding love, ultimately leaving someone feeling as though they have disappeared from themselves. The other offers the chance to find what has been missing.
The emotional narration abruptly gives way to the Fear of Missing Out title card, followed by the September 15 release date.
Drake described the project as a “not so short film directed and scored by the family,” suggesting that the visual experience could be closely connected to his creative circle and musical world.
But the rapper has deliberately avoided revealing exactly what the film will contain.
Album, Tour or Movie? Drake Kept Everyone Guessing
The mystery surrounding “FOMO” has been carefully constructed.
Drake first began teasing the project with images of his family and the phrase “FOMO 2026.” He later posted what appeared to be the CD artwork, giving fans another reason to believe a major music release could be imminent.
Theories quickly spread across social media, with fans debating whether “Fear of Missing Out” represented a new album, a music video, a tour announcement, or something entirely different.
The latest teaser confirms the project is a film, though its connection to Drake’s music could prove significant, given his description of it as both directed and scored by his team.
Drake’s Wildest Rollout Yet?
The reveal comes after Drake’s enormous “Iceman” rollout, which itself became a social media spectacle.
The rapper previously used a giant ice sculpture in a Toronto parking lot to conceal information surrounding the project. Fans reportedly attempted to break into the ice to uncover the hidden reveal, with some going to extraordinary lengths.
“Iceman” eventually arrived alongside the surprise projects Habibti and Maid of Honour, creating a massive three-project release containing 43 songs and collaborations involving artists including Future, 21 Savage, Sexyy Red, Central Cee, PartyNextDoor and Popcaan.
That makes “FOMO” particularly intriguing. Rather than immediately following another conventional album campaign, Drake appears to be expanding the rollout into film.

What Is Drake Planning for September 15?
The teaser deliberately leaves the biggest questions unanswered.
It is unclear how long the “not so short film” will be, whether it contains previously unreleased Drake music, or whether it represents another chapter in the world introduced through his recent releases.
The title itself, Fear of Missing Out, also seems to fit the teaser’s introspective tone, which focuses on risk, love, identity, and the possibility of finding something lost.
For Drake fans, however, one thing is certain: the wait is almost over.
“Fear of Missing Out” arrives September 15, and Drake has once again managed to make the reveal itself almost as big as the project.
