HelpMeDoc bridges the gap of doctors and patients
Healthcare is one of the most polarizing sectors across the globe but Indian ventures are breaking new ground in bringing it closer to the general public. One of the rising names in the private healthcare ecosystem is HelpMeDoc – a one-stop solution for patients to receive medical attention under one roof.
Founded by Suvro Ghosh and Manisha Saxena in 2012, the company offers its users a comprehensive platform where patients can book appointments with doctors, search and compare the prices of diagnostic tests and health packages online, prior to booking. Last but not the least the users can also order medicines and pharma products onilne.
The entire platform is web-based. HelpMeDoc also has a paperless approach when it comes to keeping medical records by letting patients upload all the bills, records and prescriptions online as a HelpMeDoc member.
Commenting on the upcoming funding, co-founder Suvro Ghosh said that expansion to other metros and tier-2 cities and adding more value to the company’s offering are the primary goals. With the funding, HelpMeDoc is targeting at further assistance to patients who access the platform. Mr.Ghosh further said that a number of US$3-4 million is expected from the funding that will be used for geographical expansion and improvement of the product.
The recent announcement by the DCGI to curb the chain of supply through e-commerce portals is also set to alter the healthcare industry. Mr.Ghosh commented that E-commerce is the future of the industry and until the government makes it defined, it will not work. Moreover, e-commerce is a great way for smaller companies to grow. The latest development concerning the ambitious Digital India campaign by the Modi government can also be a supporting shoulder for such progress. With the combined norms that SEBI has announced, the new regulatory framework may just be the right thing the healthcare e-commerce industry needs.
