Argentina wins the FIFA World Cup as fans celebrate across the world

On Sunday, Argentina won the World Cup for the first time in 36 years, defeating France 4-2 on penalties in a thrilling match. It sparked jubilation all around the world, including in India. Argentina’s World Cup victory brought joy to a large number of Indian fans who celebrated in the streets in many cities of the nation.

Lionel Messi won the World Cup after a lengthy wait in one of the most spectacular finals in history. Messi scored two goals to bring his tournament tally to seven and lead Argentina to their third World Cup victory, beating France 4-2 on penalties following a 3-3 stalemate in extra time.




Despite failing to retain the World Cup championship, France had one of the most memorable finishes in World Cup history. Kylian Mbappe of the French team made Argentina work hard. After Messi put Argentina back in the lead in extra time, France’s forward evened the score once more. Kylian Mbapp’s hat trick came late in regular and extra time, helping France to a 3-3 tie with Argentina in the final.

Messi spurred his team to comeback from a setback in Argentina’s campaign, producing one of the all-time great tournament performances with seven goals and three assists. Despite Messi’s encouragement, Argentina had a squad full of young players who had yet to reach their peak. The most notable is Julian Alvarez, a 22-year-old striker who scored four goals to become the country’s newest star forward.
