Warner Bros. Pictures is set to re-release Matt Reeves’ critically acclaimed blockbuster The Batman in select theatres worldwide for one night only on Wednesday, August 28, 2024. This special cinematic event, in partnership with AMC Theatres and Dolby, celebrates the upcoming debut of the HBO Original series The Penguin, premiering on September 19, 2024.
Fans who attend the exclusive screening will not only get to experience The Batman on the big screen again but will also be treated to an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the making of The Penguin. This sneak peek will feature insights from series star Colin Farrell, as well as executive producers Matt Reeves, Dylan Clark, Lauren LeFranc, and Craig Zobel, who directed the first three episodes.
Jeff Goldstein, President of Domestic Distribution, and Andrew Cripps, President of International Distribution at Warner Bros. Pictures, announced the event, expressing excitement about revisiting the success of The Batman. “The Batman was a massive hit around the world when we released it in 2022, and we’re excited to bring it back to theatres in partnership with our friends at AMC and Dolby,” they said.
Matt Reeves’ The Batman was both a critical and commercial triumph, grossing over $772 million globally during its original run. The film introduced Colin Farrell’s portrayal of Oz/The Penguin, who quickly became a fan favourite. This performance has paved the way for The Penguin series, an eight-episode HBO Original produced by Warner Bros. Television and DC Studios.
The re-release will be shown across 100 Dolby Cinema® at AMC screens in the U.S., with additional screenings in Dolby Cinema and Dolby Atmos® theatres across the UK, France, Spain, Saudi Arabia, Sweden, and South Korea. Attendees will also receive a limited-edition mini-poster featuring exclusive new art, available while supplies last.
