Kia India unveils new-gen Carnival MPV for Rs 63.9 lakh, electric SUV EV9 for Rs 1.3 crore

Kia India has launched its highly anticipated flagship electric SUV, the EV9, priced at ₹1.3 crore. First unveiled at the 2023 Auto Expo, the EV9 represents Kia’s commitment to the electric vehicle (EV) segment. Equipped with a 99.8 kWh lithium-ion battery pack, this premium electric SUV has the potential to reshape the ultra-luxury EV market in India.

The EV9 features an all-wheel-drive (AWD) configuration powered by two electric motors that produce a combined 384 bhp and 700 Nm of torque. This allows the SUV to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.3 seconds. Kia has focused on delivering performance and range, with an ARAI-certified range of 561 km on a single charge. Fast charging capabilities enhance convenience, with a 350 kW DC fast charger that can recharge the battery from 10% to 80% in just 24 minutes.

The EV9’s design emphasizes modern aesthetics and innovation. It boasts vertical LED headlamps, a closed-off grille with digital lighting, and a spacious cabin featuring dual-screen displays—a 12.3-inch touchscreen for infotainment and a similar-sized digital instrument cluster. Additionally, the EV9 comes equipped with advanced features such as Kia Connect 2.0, OTA updates, and V2X (Vehicle-to-Everything) technology, reinforcing its futuristic appeal. Safety is also a priority, with 10 airbags, a 360-degree camera, and Level 2 ADAS systems.

Alongside the EV9, Kia has launched the new-gen Kia Carnival MPV, priced at ₹63.9 lakh. This luxury MPV retains its 2.2-litre diesel engine, delivering 190 bhp and 441 Nm of torque. The Carnival, featuring a 7-seater configuration, aims to cater to family and corporate users seeking comfort and versatility. Kia plans to adopt a Completely Knocked Down (CKD) approach for the Carnival in mid-2025, making it more accessible in the Indian market.
