BVG India Wins Chambal Riverfront Contract to Transform Rajasthan’s Urban Tourism Landscape

BVG India Limited has been entrusted with the integrated development and beautification of two major destinations along the Chambal Riverfront in Rajasthan, combining tourism, heritage conservation, and sustainable urban design.

The projects cover the redevelopment of Chambal Garden and the transformation of Bhitaria Kund Garden, creating a combined opportunity to reshape public spaces while strengthening tourism and environmental sustainability.

The announcement comes as Indian cities increasingly look to riverfront development to create recreational destinations, improve green infrastructure, and reconnect communities with natural and cultural assets.

22-Acre Chambal Garden Set for Major Transformation

The larger of the two projects, the Chambal Garden Redevelopment Project, spans approximately 22 acres.

The planned redevelopment is expected to include landscaped promenades, gazebos, artificial water bodies and new visitor amenities. Headline attractions include a Laxman Jhula-inspired suspension bridge and a panoramic Glass Bridge, potentially giving visitors new vantage points over the surrounding landscape.

The project is also expected to feature projection mapping and an immersive light-and-sound show, restaurants, children’s play areas and adventure activity zones.

A dedicated Yoga Park and Miyawaki Urban Forest are also planned, along with modern parking facilities, architecturally designed entrance gates, and extensive landscaping and lighting.

The combination of entertainment, wellness and green infrastructure is intended to turn the site into a destination for both local residents and tourists.

Bhitaria Kund to Focus on Heritage Conservation

The second development, Bhitaria Kund Garden, covers approximately 8 acres and has a significant cultural component.

The site is home to an ancient Lord Shiva Temple, with the redevelopment planned around conserving the temple and restoring traditional stone carvings.

BVG India is expected to enhance the surrounding landscape with improved pathways, visitor facilities, gardens and environmentally sensitive public spaces.

The objective is to improve visitor access and experience while retaining the site’s historical and spiritual character.

Sustainability at the Center of Development

BVG India said the projects are being designed around principles of environmental sustainability, biodiversity and community well-being.

Native landscaping, additional green spaces and biodiversity-focused interventions are expected to form part of the development. The approach aligns with broader initiatives, including Mission LiFE and the Swachh Bharat Mission, while also reflecting the growing focus on climate-resilient urban infrastructure.

The company will provide integrated project management and end-to-end execution, covering planning support, civil works, landscaping, heritage restoration, infrastructure development and public amenities.

Chambal Riverfront Could Become New Tourism Draw

The projects represent more than conventional beautification work. Their proposed mix of tourism infrastructure, cultural conservation and ecological features reflects a broader shift in how Indian cities are approaching public-space development.

If delivered as planned, the Chambal Garden and Bhitaria Kund projects could create new recreational and tourism infrastructure while giving the region more space for community activities, wellness, and cultural engagement.

The development also highlights the growing role of private-sector infrastructure and services companies in executing large-scale public-realm projects.

BVG India has a nationwide operational presence spanning 29 states and Union Territories, more than 205 cities and over 2,500 sites, according to information published by the company.
