Zypp Electric Launches Franchise Model to Expand EV Delivery Fleets

India’s booming quick-commerce industry is creating a massive opportunity for electric mobility businesses, and Zypp Electric wants local entrepreneurs to get in on the action. The Gurugram-based EV logistics company has launched a nationwide franchise partner programme to expand its electric delivery fleet into smaller Indian cities.

The initiative invites investors, vehicle dealers, distributors, quick-commerce operators and regional entrepreneurs to build electric two-wheeler delivery businesses using Zypp’s technology, operational infrastructure and existing enterprise delivery network.

The company is targeting emerging commercial markets, including Lucknow, Surat, Indore, Bhopal, Vijayawada, Kochi, Nagpur and Visakhapatnam, as rapid delivery services expand beyond metropolitan areas.

Zypp Electric Bets on Franchise Partners to Accelerate EV Expansion

Founded in 2017, Zypp Electric operates a fleet of more than 31,000 electric two-wheelers across eight cities. The company says its vehicles have powered over 100 million deliveries and helped generate livelihoods for more than 2.8 lakh gig workers.

Through the new franchise model, local business owners can deploy commercial electric vehicles and connect with Zypp’s established logistics ecosystem. Partners will receive access to delivery demand across quick-commerce, e-commerce, hyperlocal grocery and food delivery platforms.

According to the company, four franchise operations have opened in the first 45 days of the initiative, with additional interest from businesses in other markets.

Co-founder and CEO Akash Gupta said the model would help Zypp expand into more than 100 markets where quick-commerce and food delivery businesses are already growing.

FleetEase.ai and 90-95% Utilization Are Key Selling Points

A major part of Zypp’s franchise proposition is its FleetEase.ai operating system. The proprietary technology combines real-time IoT tracking, cloud-based fleet monitoring, predictive battery diagnostics, maintenance alerts and automated driver allocation.

Zypp says its fleet utilization rate currently stands at 90-95%, an operational benchmark it wants franchise partners to benefit from. Higher utilization can help operators reduce idle vehicle time and improve the productivity of their assets.

The company will also provide maintenance guidance, technician training, charging infrastructure planning and access to original equipment manufacturer spare parts. These services are intended to help franchise operators maintain vehicle availability and manage operating costs.

However, actual franchise profitability will depend on local delivery demand, operating expenses, vehicle financing and fleet management.

Smaller Cities Become Zypp’s Next EV Battleground

Zypp’s expansion plans reflect the growing importance of Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities in India’s digital commerce economy. As quick-commerce and on-demand delivery services enter regional markets, demand for reliable delivery fleets is expected to create opportunities for electric mobility operators.

The franchise program also aims to generate employment for delivery executives, fleet coordinators, depot managers and maintenance technicians outside major metropolitan centers.

Gupta described the initiative as part of Zypp’s broader ambition to build a Gig Mobility Operating System that combines technology, commercial demand, and decentralized electric fleets.

Can Zypp Turn EV Franchising Into a Nationwide Business?

Zypp is betting that combining local entrepreneurs with established delivery networks and fleet technology can accelerate electric vehicle adoption across India.

The company has not disclosed the investment required to open a franchise, partner revenue-sharing arrangements or city-wise expansion timelines. Those details will be important for prospective investors evaluating the opportunity.

Nevertheless, the model gives Zypp a new route to expand without relying exclusively on company-operated fleets. If it can maintain high vehicle utilization and secure consistent delivery demand, the franchise program could become an important part of India’s evolving electric last-mile logistics market.
