The Reform leader’s extraordinary defence came after an undercover investigation appeared to capture senior figures discussing how a potential £500,000 donation from an American source could be channelled into the party through a UK-based family member.
The proposed transaction never took place. But the footage has triggered questions about Reform UK’s internal controls, political fundraising and whether Farage knew enough about what was being discussed around him.
Two senior figures at the heart of Nigel Farage’s operation former chief of staff Dan Jukes and former head of policy James Orr—have stepped down pending an internal party investigation.
Farage: “I Frankly Wasn’t Listening”
Farage has rejected the suggestion that Reform UK accepted or arranged illegal foreign funding.
Speaking to the BBC, he said he had been focused on campaigning during theClacton by-election and was not paying close attention to the conversation captured by undercover reporters.
“I frankly wasn’t even listening,” Farage said.
He argued that he understood Britain’s political donation laws and insisted that Reform had never taken foreign money by disguising its origin through a UK donor.
