Sound Awake’s 2nd Edition Announces Line Up: Days to Go

Days from D-Day now, Sound Awake announces its super-star EDM line-up of Steve Aoki, Congo Rock and Jacob Plant; live stages by Ministry of Sound and house record label Hed Kandi

Sound Awake is back again, with a rock solid line-up after the festival in August this year which saw the likes of DJ Taboo (of Black Eyed Peas), Finnish trance DJ Darude, Grammy winners Dirty Vegas and Swiss DJ Yves Larock (remember the immensely popular track Rise Up?). This December Steve Aoki will be headlining the festival which is to take place at Supernova Arena, Bangalore on December 1, along with EDM-Punk producer Congorock and electro-dubstep producer Jacob Plant.

The festival is being organised by DNA Networks and will feature four live stages, The DNA Live Stage, the Ministry of Sound Stage, Hed Kandi and the Indi Stage. The DNA Live stage will feature the three people headlining the act – Steve Aoki, Congorock and Jacob Plant; The Ministry of Sound stage will feature the top resident DJs of the one-stop-for-dance-music club – London based Carl Hanaghan, club percussionist Dean Oram and Hed Kandi resident DJ Nathan Cozzetto. The Hed Kandi stage is after the UK based record label specialising in Nu-Disco, a variant of romatic box house  and will have DJ Shane Patrick and Patrick Hagenaar from Hed Kandi’s international floors. The Indi stage will have reigning home-grown EDM artists of India.

Ministry of Sound is the front running label for EDM in the world. It has been associated with DJs such as Ferry Costen, Gareth Emery, Hardwell, Paul Oakenfold, Paul Van Dyk and Sander Van Doorn over the course of time. UK based house label Hard Kandi has a distinct sound and their team of DJs who produce contemporary and classic house music are always accompanied by a live saxophonist and percussion player. DNA Networks has been organising huge events in the music industry for the likes of the Rolling Stones, Yanni at the Taj Mahal, Sir Elton John, Roger Waters, Bryan Adams, Enrique Iglesias, Black Eyed Peas, Iron Maiden, Beyonce, Shakira, Megadeth and Metallica amongst others.

DNA Entertainment networks have promised that like last time, flea markets from Goa selling merchandise popular with dance music fans would be organised at the venue. Mr. T. Venkat Vardhan, MD, DNA Entertainment Networks when asked about Sound Awake, Edition II said, “In order to enhance the festival experience this time around, we have a headline act in Steve Aoki, who is one of the top DJs currently. He is also known for his signature performance and interaction with the live audience.” Steve Aoki in an exclusive interview with SoundTree told us to be rest assured there would be a repeat of his legendary cake and champagne acts at Sound Awake as well, “It worked very well with the crowd, it’s fun and interactive and people seemed to love both getting caked and watching other people get cake thrown on them. I’ve told the organizers at DNA networks to arrange the cake and champagne for Sound Awake.” Steve comes in the wake of his successful Aokify tour in the US, which was an audio-visual spectacle. Congorock has emerged from being the talk of the underground town to one of the hippest dance sensations since his 2010 hit “Babylon”. The EDM festival season has just begun and amidst the confusion clouding Sunburn, this seems to be a viable option for many who do not want to miss out on music.

Tickets for SoundAwake are priced at Rs. 1,500 and are available on the following websites: www.soundawakeindia.com | www.ticketgenie.in
