Watch Javed Jaffrey’s Satirical New Song

Known for his excellent comic timing, dance moves, and unabashed commentary on the socio-political environment, actor-comedian Javed Jaffrey, has released a new rap single called “Mera Bharat Hai Mahaan” that talks about everything incorrect with the state of the nation. While it’s impressive that indie musicians like Ska Vengers, Shillong Chamber Choir, and Vir Das have brought out a political message to vote, Javed Jaffrey’s caustic single stands out above the clutter with its tongue-in-cheek writing, a style Jaffrey is famous for, with his MumBhai song (listen here).

Javed Jaffrey, like many celebrities including director Anubhav Sinha and Ranveer Shorey, stood as a nominee from Lucknow for the Aam Aadmi Party. Though, on April 10, AAP had to replace his nomination with a ‘covering candidate’ Adarsh Shastri on grounds of Jaffrey’s anomalous paperwork. Regardless, it may not be certain, but the single does hint at his espousing efforts to bring the AAP to power with the culminating line “… Ek imaandar toh baaki hai, ummeed pe duniya qayam hai”.
