Delhi Auto Expo oozes luxury and Sedans – Quick Snapshot!

The 2016 edition of Asia’s largest auto show, The Delhi Auto Expo, ended on a signing note ‘nothing but the best’. While this is not the official message, anyhow! However, the large gathering at the Auto Expo held in New Delhi last month saw more participation this time.

This exclusive auto showcase in India is a knocking opportunity for all the automobile enthusiasts to have a first-hand look and feel of the mean machines; also, a class apart in technology. On display is an exuberant sight of some of the best in the passenger car segment, to be launched by carmakers later.

Each time is a unique experience, as there is much more to be unveiled and explored during the show. It all happened again this year (on Delhi Auto Expo platform). There were exclusive sedans on display by Chevrolet, Hyundai, Volkswagen, Mercedes, Jaguar, Maruti, Ford, Renault, Mahindra and Honda.
 


 
These bigwigs in the auto industry participated to showcase their latest models, and be a part of the ‘sedan marathon’. The ‘eyeballs’ were rolling and, many people were just awed by the sheer beauty of what each brand has to offer. The take home message is ‘available in India’ now.

Big launches this year:

Chevrolet Essentia – This is Chevrolet’s first sub-4m sedan and will be based on the next-generation Chevrolet Beat. The car may have the same 1.0-liter diesel engine and 1.2-liter petrol engine that does duty in the Beat
VW Ameo – This is the first sub-4m sedan from VW that specifically targets Indian customers. Exterior styling reflects the hatchback Polo and the interiors of the car are also similar. The car is expected to launch mid this year.

Hyundai Genesis – After teasing the Indian market for years, The South Korean carmaker is all set to bring its flagship sedan to India. Once here it is set to compete with the likes of the Mercedes E, BMW 5 Series, and Audi A6. The care is expected to offer two engines options – the 3.8-litre V6 GDI and a 5.0-litre V8 GDI.

Mercedes S Cabriolet – The S class with a retractable roof is expected to launch by the end of the year. The large roof can be opened or closed in approximately 20 seconds at speeds up to 60km/h, and the 2-door car will come with a 4.7-litre twin-turbo V8 engine.

Jaguar XE – The most affordable Jaguar comes to India at a price of Rs. 39.9 lakh and will take on the likes of Mercedes C-Class and the Audi A4. The car comes in 2-Litre diesel and petrol and does 0-100 km/hr is in 7.7 seconds on the petrol and in 7.8 seconds in the diesel.

Ford Mustang – The iconic Mustang will be launched mid this year and will be the first right-hand drive variant of the vehicle. The car will be powered by a throaty 5.0-liter V8 producing 420 horsepower and 529 Nm of torque.

VW Passat GTE – The Volkswagen Passat GTE is a plug-in hybrid that combines the TSI engine of the conventional car with that of an electric motor. Passat GTE’s 1.4-litre TSI engine develops 154bhp while the electric motor churns out 113bhp.

Maruti Suzuki VitaraBrezza – Maruti Suzuki’s first compact SUV, VitaraBrezza, is keenly watched. With plans to launch it before the end of this fiscal, the car will initially come with a 200 DDiS diesel engine. The VitaraBrezza has been conceptualized, designed and developed in India using Suzuki’s global platform and engine with CV Raman, Executive Director R&D, Maruti SuzukiBSE 7.80 % India Limited (MSIL), being the Chief Engineer for the project.
 


 
New Renault Duster – The new Duster boasts of modern engineering, all-new safety and comfort features and improved fuel efficiency. The car gets new headlights, new grille, new dash, new instrument panels, driver armrest, an 8-way adjustable driver seat, one touch turn indicator (lane change), ambient temperature display, speed sensitive auto door lock, impact sensing auto door unlock and new navigation consoles – medianav, steering-mounted audio and phone controls.

Tata Hexa – The car is based on the Aria platform and is expected to be launched by the middle of the year. The design of the car has been changed to give it an SUV look and is supposed to be powered by the 2.2-litre four-cylinder VARICOR 400 engine.

Mahindra TUV Endurance/ Imperio – TUV300 Endurance is a version of the existing TUV 300 and is aimed at customers who want a car that looks stronger and muscular. The Endurance gets a new front grille, and also new dual tone interiors. Engine remains the same. The Imperio on the other hand is a premium pickup truck and is powered by a 2.5-litre CRDe diesel engine.

Honda BR-V- The Honda BR-V is based on the extended Brio platform that also finds use in the Honda Mobilio MPV. The Honda BR-V is a seven seater compact SUV, which will be powered by a 1.5-litre iVTEC petrol unit and a 1.5-litre iDTEC diesel engine. The car is expected to be launched by the middle of the year and will take on the likes of Duster, Creta, Terrano and S-Cross.
