BluSmart and Citroën Collaborate to Integrate 4,000 Citroën ë-C3 EVs into Fleet

BluSmart, India’s pioneering born-electric eMobility ride-hailing service, has entered into a significant partnership with Citroën, the renowned French automaker, to integrate 4,000 electric vehicles (EVs) into its fleet. This collaboration underscores both companies’ commitment to sustainable transportation alternatives, aligning with the growing consumer demand for eco-friendly mobility solutions.

The agreement was formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), highlighting BluSmart’s acceleration towards its net-zero mobility goal. The initial phase of the partnership saw the flag-off of 125 Citroën ë-C3 units from BluSmart’s EV charging superhub in Bangalore, marking a pivotal moment in the adoption of electric vehicles for urban mobility.

The Citroën ë-C3, an all-electric compact SUV, boasts an impressive range of 320 kilometers according to ARAI standards. Its state-of-the-art fast charging technology enables a full charge in under an hour, ensuring minimal downtime for BluSmart’s fleet operations. The vehicle’s Advanced Comfort Program delivers an elevated ride experience, combining intuitive technology and ample space to cater to the diverse needs of passengers.

Anmol Jaggi, Co-founder & CEO of BluSmart, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, stating, “Citroën’s commitment to safety and net-zero mobility aligns perfectly with BluSmart’s mission. We aim to establish a comprehensive EV mobility ecosystem in India, encompassing the nation’s largest all-electric ride-hailing service and an extensive network of EV charging superhubs. As more OEMs embrace eMobility, and our fleet expands, we are well-positioned to meet the growing demand for ride-hailing services in megacities, offering riders a variety of advanced EVs.”

The onboarding of these EVs was facilitated through Assure by BluSmart, a unique opportunity for retail and institutional investors to finance the transition to electric mobility. Institutions can finance the purchase of electric cars and lease them to BluSmart against fixed rentals, contributing to the growth of sustainable mobility solutions.

Shishir Mishra, Brand Director of Citroën India, emphasized the shared vision for a sustainable future in electric mobility, stating, “The ë-C3’s smart design, operational range, fast charging capabilities, and intuitive technology make it an attractive proposition for passengers and fleet operators alike. BluSmart’s entry into the shared electric mobility space is a commendable initiative that offers convenient and safe urban mobility with zero emissions, supporting our collective mission to decarbonize cities by mainstreaming EVs.”

BluSmart’s integrated energy-infrastructure-mobility business model, coupled with its indigenously built born-electric technology stack, currently operates 7,000 BluSmart EVs and has completed over 12.5 million all-electric trips. The company has covered 410 million clean kilometers, saving 30 million kilograms of CO2 since its inception. BluSmart also owns and operates 4,400 EV Chargers across its 36 EV Charging superhubs in densely populated megacities like Delhi NCR and Bangalore.

BluSmart’s recent multi-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Tata Power Trading Company Ltd. (TPTCL) to source green power further reinforces its commitment to decarbonize mobility at scale. This strategic collaboration positions BluSmart as the first mobility player in India to transition from zero tailpipe emissions to a zero-emissions company, marking a significant milestone in its sustainability journey.
