Comic Con India enabling Cosplay to come out of the Closet in India

Cosplay in India is coming out of the closet for some its an identity they assume that gives them confidence, for others, it’s a hobby, and for some, it’s a way to earn

Comic Con India, with its inception in 2011, has been growing in India with more and more participation and relatability. While the Hollywood superhero flicks may be one of the reasons to draw the crowds, the cosplayers are finally coming out of the closet.

Comic Con India has been hosting many events including Comic Con PopUp show earlier this year at DLF Cyber Hub in Gurugram. Along with comics, movies, television, gaming, merchandise, and more! Attendees and fans were given a chance to interact with some of the star cosplayers. Akshay Churi won the Indian Champion of Cosplay (ICC) 2019 and Shine Saha (Cosplaying as Gipsy Avenger) a fan favourite, along with some of the leading cosplayers in the country like Iron Man, Spider-man etc. Cosplaying as Jim Raynor from StarCraft, Akshay participated at the C2E2 Crown Championships of Cosplay in Chicago, the largest and most prestigious cosplay contest in the world.

We interacted with Jatin Verma Founder Comic Con India, watch the full interview.
