Top 10 Places for the Dog’s Day Out

So you and your canine companion have dates which is not restricted to curling up on each other and watching Big Bang Theory. It’s time to wear that love on your sleeve and take him out, and no, we do not mean a mere stroll. If those pet grooming salons are not your dog’s idea of fun, maybe it is time you both enjoyed a meal outside where he can gambol as much as he likes and isn’t fed surreptitious scraps from under the table. Here’s a list to get you started.

Under The Mango Tree 1. Under The Mango Tree

Probably the most popular pet friendly cafe around town right now, Under The Mango Tree has a seating area in a miniature mango garden. This place is full of doting people-pet pairs sunning themselves with a cuppa, so if you’re lucky it might even turn out to be an impromptu party of the canine kind for your lovely. Albeit on the expensive side, what makes up for this is the amount of pets frolicking about at all times. If you’re lucky, a doggie event might be happening right when you walk in.

Rasta Cafe 2. Rasta Café

This is where you and your pet bask in the joy of the universal brotherhood – a Rastafarian café which has a lot of pets of its own who all play together. Complete with hookahs, American breakfasts and burgers this café has an atmosphere you’d want to soak in. There’s a dance floor (for humans and the non-humans alike). Beware of coming here post 11 pm, as it gets really crowded around that time.

Toit3. Toit

The huge brewery has a vibrant vibe, their beers is why you should go here in the first place. With multiple seating options, pets are free to frolic about the vast open areas, while you enjoy your beef-stuffed potato skins and brew beer. Resident DJs play sets at Toit, and the dance floor is big and magnificent. We recommend their dining space with a sun roof, you have your lamb chops and pear crumble, filtered sunlight and your dog nearby, what else would you need from life?

Counter Culture 4.Counterculture

Being partly an outdoor venue, this is a perfect place to bring your pets. A large garden leads into a building which resembles a warehouse providing ample room inside for the several pets that come and move around. As Counterculture hosts many live shows and standup comedy gigs, it is a lovely venue to head out to for supper with the family. The best part about bringing your pet here is that the staff has an incredible amount of tolerance when it comes to pets, and stays focused on ensuring that you have a good time.

Courtyard Cafe 5. Couryard Café

So here’s the biggest incentive – Courtyard Café has a menu exclusively for dogs. You may choose between chicken, mince or egg, prepared in various ways, according to how your dog likes it. (For instance, there is Chicky Chow with Chicken Liver, Chicken, Egg and Rice blended with carrots.) This tiny little café is located right off a main road and is the perfect place to relax after a brisk stroll with your pup. Stepping through the gated fence, you can forget about the din on the road and relax in the soft bustle of the café. On an average day, one would see scores of freelance workers who have adopted the café with their laptops and pets. The food is value for money and regular café fare is available from coffees, sandwiches to desserts.

 Huckleberry Cafe6. Huckleberry

Huckleberry seems to have a panache for DIY handcrafted couches and stools (we saw a colourful seat made out of a metal bucket) and assorted modern Italian fare to get you going. The place is cozy enough for your pet to curl up on your feet for a nice little snooze while you enjoy your meal.
