Post Malone’s ‘Bad Mood’ Tease, Return to His Beerbongs & Bentleys Era?

Post Malone has given fans another taste of his upcoming album, The Eternal Buzz, previewing an unreleased track called “Bad Mood” that could signal a return to the melodic hip-hop sound that made him a global superstar.

Post Malone may be preparing to revisit the sound that helped define his rise to fame. The singer and rapper has teased a new song, “Bad Mood,” offering fans a brief preview of his upcoming album, The Eternal Buzz, and sparking speculation that his next musical chapter could bring back the style associated with his blockbuster 2018 album, Beerbongs & Bentleys.

In a video shared on Instagram on October 28, Malone is seen relaxing on a couch with a beer while listening to the unreleased track. The snippet features his familiar melodic delivery, atmospheric production, and reverb-heavy vocals, with lyrics that hint at regret and an apology.

“Guess I’m doomed,” Malone sings in the preview before delivering the lines, “Didn’t think things through” and “Sorry I was in a bad mood.”

The short clip was enough to get fans talking about a potential return to the sound that first made Malone one of hip-hop’s most recognizable hitmakers.

‘The Eternal Buzz’ Is Coming, Post Malone Tells Fans

Malone accompanied the video with a caption that offered another hint about his next album.

“eternal buzz coming soon,” he wrote, adding an affectionate message to his fans and the hashtag “#badmood.”

Although the musician has yet to announce an official release date for The Eternal Buzz, his latest post suggests that the project is moving closer to completion. It also follows an earlier update in which Malone acknowledged the long wait and promised the finished album would include plenty of new material.

On October 15, he shared a photograph of a whiteboard tracking the project’s progress, saying he was nearly finished and apologizing to fans for the delay.

Malone also expressed excitement about the music and promised a substantial collection of songs. He assured listeners that the wait for his next album would not stretch another three years.

The update has heightened anticipation for The Eternal Buzz, particularly among listeners waiting for the artist to revisit his earlier musical identity.

Is Post Malone Returning to His ‘Beerbongs & Bentleys’ Sound?

The biggest talking point surrounding “Bad Mood” is its resemblance to the melodic hip-hop style that powered Malone’s early success.

Released in 2018, Beerbongs & Bentleys became a defining moment in his career, combining rap, pop hooks, emotional lyrics, and atmospheric production. The album spent three weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and helped establish Malone as a dominant force across multiple music genres.

The new snippet appears to draw on some of those familiar elements. Its vocal effects and melodic phrasing have prompted speculation that Malone could be returning to the sound behind hits such as “Rockstar,” “Psycho,” and “Better Now.”

However, a short preview cannot establish the musical direction of the entire album. Malone has not confirmed that The Eternal Buzz will be a deliberate return to Beerbongs & Bentleys, leaving fans to wait for further previews or the full release.

From Country Music Success to Melodic Hip-Hop

Malone’s latest musical direction follows a successful period of experimentation with country music.

His 2024 album, F-1 Trillion, debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 after generating approximately 250,000 equivalent album units in its opening week. The project featured collaborations with major country artists, including Morgan Wallen, Luke Combs, Dolly Parton, and Tim McGraw.

He also released Austin in 2023, demonstrating a willingness to move beyond the hip-hop and pop formula that initially established his reputation.

Despite those ventures, Malone has continued to hint at a return to his earlier sound. Another preview, “Chrome Heartbreaker,” reportedly performed during the pregame ceremony for the 2026 FIFA World Cup Final, has added to speculation about the direction of his next record.

An earlier tease also raised the possibility of a particularly large project, with reports suggesting The Eternal Buzz could feature as many as 40 tracks across two discs. That configuration, however, has not been confirmed as the final album format.

When Will ‘The Eternal Buzz’ Be Released?

For now, Malone has not revealed a definitive release date or confirmed the complete tracklist for The Eternal Buzz. Song titles on his studio whiteboard have offered clues about the recording process, but fans should not treat them as a final tracklist.

His latest “Bad Mood” preview nevertheless gives fans another reason to expect new music soon.

If the finished track retains the sound heard in the teaser, Malone could be preparing a release that reconnects with the melodic, emotionally charged style that helped make him a household name.

Whether The Eternal Buzz becomes a full-scale return to his earlier sound or another genre-blending experiment remains to be seen. For fans hoping to hear the Beerbongs & Bentleys era revisited, however, “Bad Mood” may be the most intriguing hint yet.
