eBAJA SAEINDIA 2024: A Platform for Innovation and Inclusivity in Engineering Education

The eBAJA SAEINDIA 2024 event, a national-level engineering student out-of-classroom education event, promises to be a milestone in promoting innovation and inclusivity in the field of engineering. With 70 electric buggies on display, the event aims to showcase the latest advancements in vehicle technologies while also promoting sustainable practices to lower carbon footprint.

Sanjay Nibandhe, Chairman of the Organising Committee, highlighted the significance of eBAJA in providing students with hands-on learning experiences that prepare them for the industry. He also announced the inclusion of foreign engineering students in future events, aiming to enhance the diversity and global perspective of the competition.

Renault Nissan Tech, a key partner of the event, is committed to improving gender diversity in the competition. Hirotake Harada, Senior Vice President of Engineering, expressed the company’s goal to increase the participation of women from 17% to 50% in the coming years. Renault Nissan Tech is working closely with BAJA SAEINDIA to implement changes in the rule book and registration guidelines to achieve this objective.

One of the highlights of the event was the participation of Sri Vishnu Institute of Technology, an all-girls college, in the newly introduced hBAJA category, focusing on hydrogen vehicles. The college developed an all-terrain buggy using hydrogen technology, showcasing the potential of women in the field of engineering.

The event also saw the unveiling of a terrain single-seater e-buggy designed and developed by all-women engineering students, demonstrating their talent and innovation in the field of electric vehicles.

The objective of eBAJA SAEINDIA 2024 is to provide students with an out-of-classroom learning experience, fostering innovation, and producing industry-ready engineers. With 295 colleges associated with SAEINDIA 2024, the event is set to attract a diverse range of participants from across the country.

In addition to the technical aspects of the event, eBAJA SAEINDIA 2024 also focuses on providing students with opportunities for career advancement. A HR Meet will be held towards the end of the event, where 12 companies are expected to recruit students. Last year, 142 students were placed through such a meet, and a total of 529 students were placed between 2018 and 2023, highlighting the event’s role in shaping the careers of budding engineers.

With its emphasis on innovation, sustainability, and inclusivity, eBAJA SAEINDIA 2024 is not just a competition but a platform for engineering students to showcase their talents, learn from industry experts, and prepare for a successful career in the field of engineering.
