Startup accelerator Edugild signs MOU with Cambridge University Press

Aiming to jointly support the development and further flourish of an ed-tech ecosystem in the country, Edugild, an Indian ed-tech startup accelerator has signed a collaborative Memorandum of Understanding with Cambridge University Press (CUP).

The understanding will enable Edugild and CUP to bring in key stakeholders on the similar platform, which would include startups, mentors, early stage investors, publishing houses and other partners.

Rishi Kapal, CEO, Edugild said, “Ed-tech is core to Edugild, with MIT Pune being the core founding and knowledge partner. It is our belief that Edugild and CUP joining hands to strengthen this ecosystem is the right meeting of minds. I believe it is critical for us to nurture this ecosystem.”

Edugild is currently hosting its first batch of startups and has started receiving applications for the second batch. It is collaborating with partners across industry segments to build a network that would be conducive to ed-tech startups.

This MoU also highlights the strategic intent of both the parties to offer most critical resources like strong assessment and evaluation of startups to be accelerated, devising mentorship programs under joint guidance, knowledge management and success enhancement programs, facilitating institutional partnership for potential testing/test-bedding of solutions in CUP ecosystem.

Ratnesh Kumar Jha, Managing Director, Cambridge University Press, South Asia, said, “The partnership with Edugild reinstates our support and vision towards contributing to the government’s Digital India vision and our commitment to spark innovation.”

“We intend to evaluate entities and provide mentorship to start-ups with an interest in the field of education training, skill development and knowledge management. I am sure this is a step forward to empower innovation in digital education and provide a structured ecosystem to aspiring startups,” added Jha.

In February this year, Edugild had come together with Cisco, to explore opportunities in supporting startups in Ed-tech space.
