Gautam Gambhir Foundation illegally stocked Covid medicine Fabiflu: Delhi high court informed

Delhi government’s drug controller body DGCI on Thursday informed the Delhi High Court that Cricketer-turned-politician Gautam Gambhir’s foundation has been found guilty of unauthorisedly stocking and giving Fabiflu drug to COVID-19 patients. Appearing for the drug controller, advocate Nandita Rao said the cricketer’s group, Gautam Gambhir Foundation, committed an offence under Drugs and Cosmetics Act as it was found stocking medicine in an unauthorised manner.

The drug agency submitted that action will be taken without delay against the foundation, drug dealers as well as other such cases which would be brought to its notice, reported news agency Press Trust of India. The body also found Aam Aadmi Party’s MLA Praveen Kumar guilty under the same act, the Court was told. Meanwhile, the court asked the drug controller to file status reports on further progress in these cases within six weeks and listed the matter for hearing on July 29.

Earlier on Monday, the Court rebuked the drug controller for not properly examining how BJP MP Gautam Gambhir procured huge quantity of Fabiflu, used for treating COVID-19 patients, and said the tendency of people to take advantage of a situation to appear as saviours has to be denounced. The high court said its confidence in the drug controller has shaken and rejected its status report filed in connection with its inquiry into procurement of the medicine by the cricketer-turned-politician Gambhir.
