Mahindra will team up with Uber to deploy electric vehicles (EVs) on the cab hailer’s platform in multiple cities across India.
While they have already associated with Zoomcar and Uber’s rival in India, Ola, to build an ecosystem of electric mass mobility in Nagpur, Mahindra is now looking to deploy “hundreds of electric vehicles in Delhi and Hyderabad” with the new partnership.
On the platform, Mahindra’s electric vehicles will include the e2oPlus hatch and the eVerito sedan. Both the companies are also looking to deploy the EVs in other cities too.
M&M Managing Director Pawan Goenka said, “Our collaboration with Uber is an important next step to help accelerate the large scale adoption of electric vehicles on shared mobility platforms and meet the nation’s vision for EVs.”
Uber Chief Business Officer, India and Emerging Markets, Madhu Kannan said the company is looking to build a sustainable future of mobility where increasingly more people can depend more efficient vehicle trips.
Through the arrangement, Uber’s driver partners will be able to avail of a package that will offer Mahindra electric vehicles at special prices with attractive financing and insurance premiums among other maintenance packages from Mahindra and their associates.
Mahindra and Uber will also work with public and private players closely in setting up a common use charging eco-system across multiple locations in those cities. In addition, Mahindra will also support driver education and training for aspects related to electric vehicles.
