Amazon India, HAX and Kickstarter launch competition to support startups in India

While one venture will receive the perks of the trios involvement for ‘concept-to-customer-journey’, several of the applicant-entities will look to feature themselves on the e-commerce market-place through Amazon Launchpad.

Amazon.in in partnership with hardware accelerator, HAX and crowdfunding platform Kickstarter, is launching Startup C-Cube – a multilevel competition for startups. The contests will commence from December 5th in Bangalore – the hub of startups in India.

While HAX runs an accelerator program at its centres in San Fransisco and Shenzhen, China, they have only a small involvement in three startups in India – RaZbaby, Diabeto and Dazl. They are now looking to get deeper in to the ecosystem of startups in India – thus the competition will be a good exercise in introducing HAX and Kickstarter to the scene. Manish Tiwary, Vice-President, category management at Amazon India, said in a statement, “We are very happy to bring Kickstarter and HAX to India to give Indian start-ups an opportunity to get their ideas noticed at the global stage and arm them with resources to convert these into real business opportunities.”

Though it is expected to fuel innovative entrepreneurship among startups in India, Amazon.in is also likely to benefit from the applications they receive. While one venture will receive the perks of the trios involvement for ‘concept-to-customer-journey’, several of the applicant-entities will look to feature themselves on the e-commerce market-place through Amazon Launchpad.

Amazon has supported several product startups across multiple segments including wireless, electronics, grocery and beauty through scalability and distribution while also featuring their products on a dedicated section on Amazon.in. Launched in December last year, the Launchpad program now boasts of more than 17,000 products from in India.
