The Game Drops The Documentary III With Drake Collaboration and Kendrick Lamar Beef Fallout

The Game has finally pulled the trigger on The Documentary III, and the long-awaited album is arriving with a major surprise: a new collaboration with Drake that appears to reignite one of hip-hop’s most closely watched rivalries.

The Compton rapper announced Thursday, August 20, that The Documentary III would hit streaming platforms at 9 p.m. Pacific and midnight Eastern. The release ends years of anticipation surrounding the latest chapter in the album series that began with his 2005 debut.

But it was a newly teased Drake collaboration, “No Brakes,” that immediately grabbed the attention of rap fans.

The Game Appears to Pick Drake’s Side

DJ Akademiks previewed “No Brakes” shortly before The Game announced the album’s release; the track features Drake and appears to contain pointed references to the rapper’s long-running tensions with Kendrick Lamar.

On No Brakes, The Game raps about being alongside Drake and delivers a line about choosing a side, adding fuel to speculation that the song is intended as a statement of allegiance following Drake and Lamar’s explosive 2024 feud.

The Game and Kendrick Lamar share deep Compton roots, making his apparent alignment with Drake particularly intriguing.

The rapper has previously maintained that he respects Kendrick Lamar while emphasizing his longstanding personal relationship with Drake. That connection dates back more than a decade and includes their 2015 collaboration “100.”

The Game also publicly defended his relationship with Drake during his July Verzuz showdown with YG, making it clear that outside criticism would not change his position.

The Documentary III Finally Arrives

The Game’s announcement confirmed that The Documentary III would be released worldwide through streaming services Thursday night. He also revealed that he co-produced the album alongside Tommy Brown, Mike & Keys and Travis Wilson. Treyvonce Moore handled the project’s mixing and mastering.

The rapper thanked everyone involved with the record and, notably, his fans for their patience during the lengthy wait.

The album represents the latest installment in one of West Coast hip-hop’s most recognizable series. The original The Documentary helped establish The Game as one of the defining rap voices of the mid-2000s, while The Documentary 2 and The Documentary 2.5 continued the franchise a decade later.

Kanye West, Lil Wayne, Snoop Dogg and YG Rumored

The Game has not publicly revealed the complete tracklist, but DJ Akademiks has suggested that the album could feature some enormous names.

Among the rumored collaborators are Kanye West, Lil Wayne and Snoop Dogg, while YG’s involvement has been directly teased by The Game himself.

Following their July Verzuz battle, The Game confirmed that YG would appear on The Documentary III, calling the collaboration a piece of “West Side Bompton” history.

The Game and YG also released “Red People,” produced by Swizz Beatz and Timbaland, around the time of their Verzuz event.

Drake and The Game Reunite at a Wild Moment

The timing of “No Brakes” makes the collaboration particularly explosive.

Drake and Kendrick Lamar’s 2024 battle reshaped the modern hip-hop conversation, with both artists releasing diss tracks that dominated streaming platforms and social media.

Now, The Game appears ready to enter that conversation again—not necessarily by launching a new feud, but by making his own loyalties unmistakable.

Whether “No Brakes” becomes one of the defining moments of The Documentary III remains to be seen. But with Drake on the track and potential appearances from Kanye West, Lil Wayne, Snoop Dogg and YG, The Game has made sure his long-awaited comeback begins with maximum attention.
