He also expresses regret over the possibility of raising his daughter in separate households, suggesting that the relationship’s breakdown was not the future he had imagined.

The lyrics appear to reference his relationship with Naomi Osaka, although Cordae does not explicitly identify the mother of the child he mentions. Consequently, the song has prompted speculation about his family life, but it does not independently confirm who is expecting a baby with the rapper.

Cordae and Naomi Osaka welcomed their daughter, Shai, in July 2023. The couple had announced Osaka’s pregnancy earlier that year.

Cordae’s Album Arrives Amid $25 Million Lawsuit

The album’s release also comes as Cordae faces a separate legal battle. MMMG Inc. has filed a lawsuit seeking at least $25 million, alleging that the rapper breached an exclusive recording agreement dating back to 2018.

The complaint, filed in New York federal court on October 15, also names EMPIRE Distribution, APE s**t and Mass Appeal Records as defendants. MMMG claims it holds rights to Cordae’s recordings and alleges that Heavy Is the Crown was released without its authorization.

The company is seeking damages and a court order restricting distribution of recordings it claims to own. These remain allegations, not established findings.
