Wu-Tang Clan to Take Over Detroit Lions Thanksgiving Halftime Show

The Detroit Lions are bringing one of hip-hop’s most influential groups to the Thanksgiving stage. Wu-Tang Clan will headline the halftime show of the Lions’ annual Thanksgiving Day game against the Chicago Bears on November 26, setting up an unexpected collision between legendary rap and one of the NFL’s biggest holiday traditions.

The performance will take place at Ford Field in Detroit, with the game scheduled to kick off at 1 p.m. ET and air nationally on CBS. The announcement, made on November 1, puts Wu-Tang Clan at the center of this year’s Thanksgiving football celebrations, with the group arriving just days after a major milestone in its musical legacy.

Actor and recording artist Antonio Cipriano, who has appeared in Off Campus and Broadway’s Jagged Little Pill, will perform the national anthem. Cipriano is a Michigan native, making his appearance another local connection in the Lions’ holiday program.

Eminem and Paul Rosenberg Bring Wu-Tang Clan to Detroit

For the second consecutive year, Eminem and his longtime manager Paul Rosenberg are overseeing the selection and executive production of the Lions’ Thanksgiving halftime entertainment.

Rosenberg, also president of Shady Records, said the goal was to deliver something exciting and unexpected. He described the Wu-Tang appearance as a fitting choice for Detroit, revealing that both he and Eminem have been fans of the group since the early 1990s.

The collaboration also connects generations of hip-hop fans in a city with a deep musical identity. Wu-Tang Clan’s influence on rap culture stretches across decades, making the Thanksgiving appearance a significant booking beyond the football audience.

Last year, Eminem and Paul Rosenberg selected Detroit-born rocker Jack White to headline the halftime show. White delivered a high-energy performance and was joined by Eminem for a surprise appearance, setting a formidable standard for this year’s event.

Wu-Tang Clan Arrives After Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Milestone

The Thanksgiving performance comes at a particularly important moment for Wu-Tang Clan. The influential hip-hop collective is part of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame’s Class of 2026, with its induction ceremony scheduled for November 14 in Los Angeles.

The group has also recently completed its Wu-Tang Forever: The Final Chamber tour, adding another major chapter to its long-running career.

Wu-Tang Clan’s lineup includes RZA, GZA, Method Man, Raekwon, Ghostface Killah, U-God, Masta Killa, Inspectah Deck and Cappadonna, alongside the legacy of late member Ol’ Dirty Bastard.

Known for its distinctive production, uncompromising lyrics, and impact on hip-hop, the collective helped reshape the genre during the 1990s. Its music still influences artists and audiences worldwide.

Detroit Lions Promise Another Major Thanksgiving Show

Lions president and CEO Rich Haddad welcomed the announcement, calling the Thanksgiving Day Classic one of the NFL’s defining traditions and Wu-Tang Clan an iconic musical act.

The Lions will face NFC North rivals the Chicago Bears at Ford Field, with the annual game expected to draw a national television audience.

Wu-Tang will not be the only major musical attraction during Thanksgiving week. Miranda Lambert is scheduled to headline the Philadelphia Eagles-Dallas Cowboys halftime show, while the Goo Goo Dolls will perform during the Kansas City Chiefs-Buffalo Bills game.

U2 is also set to headline the NFL’s first Thanksgiving Eve game, featuring the Green Bay Packers and Los Angeles Rams.

With Eminem and Rosenberg once again shaping Detroit’s musical showcase, the Wu-Tang booking gives this year’s Lions game a distinctly hip-hop identity. For fans, the biggest attraction may be seeing one of rap’s most celebrated collectives take over Ford Field on one of America’s biggest sporting holidays.
