OBSESS Raises Angel Funding to Build India’s Next Big Fitness and Sports Platform

India-based startup OBSESS has raised angel funding to build an integrated platform that brings gyms, personal trainers, sports venues, nutrition services, and wellness businesses together under one roof.

Founded in 2026 by Tushar Sharma and Yash Kumar, the fitness and sports technology company wants to change how Indians discover, access, and experience fitness. Instead of relying on separate apps and service providers for gym memberships, sports bookings, personal training and wellness, users could eventually manage much of their fitness journey through a single platform.

The undisclosed angel funding round attracted investors including Pushpendra Singh, Co-founder of Centricity; angel investor Amitt Goel; and Harshit Vij, Co-founder of Freecultr.

OBSESS Wants to End the Fragmentation of India’s Fitness Industry

While fitness participation is expanding beyond conventional gym memberships, the industry remains divided across multiple service providers and digital platforms. Finding a gym, booking a badminton court, hiring a personal trainer, or getting nutrition advice can mean navigating different businesses and apps.

OBSESS believes this fragmented experience presents a significant opportunity. Its platform is being developed to connect consumers with gym memberships, personal training, sports venue discovery and bookings, fitness products, nutrition services and wellness professionals.

The startup is also targeting the businesses operating behind these services. Many gyms, independent trainers, and sports venue operators still rely on traditional methods to manage customers, bookings, and daily operations. OBSESS aims to provide digital tools that help these businesses streamline operations, improve customer reach and unlock growth opportunities.

“We don’t want to build just another fitness application. We are building a platform that brings the different parts of the fitness journey together,” said founder and CEO Tushar Sharma.

AI-Powered Fitness and Expansion Plans on the Roadmap

The company plans to use the newly raised capital to strengthen technology and product development, expand its network of gyms, trainers and sports venues, improve user acquisition and build partnerships across the fitness and wellness industry.

Artificial intelligence is another part of its longer-term strategy. OBSESS is exploring AI-driven capabilities for workout planning, nutrition recommendations and personalized fitness experiences, potentially making these services more accessible to users.

Co-founder Yash Kumar believes the opportunity extends well beyond helping people locate gyms or reserve sports facilities. The company’s ambition is to create a connected experience that supports consumers throughout their fitness journey while bringing service providers and businesses closer to potential customers.

Can OBSESS Become a One-Stop Destination for Fitness?

India’s fitness and wellness market is increasingly extending into sports, recovery, nutrition, and community-led activities. However, discoverability and fragmented services continue to create hurdles for consumers and operators alike.

OBSESS is betting that a unified digital platform can address these gaps by combining consumer services with business-facing technology. Its longer-term plans include entering additional cities and expanding the network of consumers, service providers, and fitness brands using the platform.

The startup has not disclosed the amount raised or provided a detailed expansion timeline. Its immediate challenge will be building a sufficiently broad network of partners and attracting users to a platform that promises to connect multiple parts of the fitness industry.

If successful, OBSESS could position itself as more than another gym-discovery application: it wants to become a digital gateway to India’s wider fitness and sports ecosystem.
