Nutanix acquires Calm.io and PernixData
With the objective to bring together compute, virtualization and storage into a resilient, software-defined solution with rich machine intelligence, enterprise cloud solution provider Nutanix has acquired Sequoia-backed startup Calm.io and PernixData.
Nutanix offers a platform for smooth transitioning of software and applications to their newer updates. Headquartered in San Francisco, most of its 43 member team is based out of Bengaluru.
Dheeraj Pandey, chairman at Nutanix, “PernixData and Calm. io both have exceptional technology, solid engineering teams, and visionary leaders with the ‘founder’s mentality’. They have dreamt big and persevered against great odds to build phenomenal products.”
PernixData is a pioneer in scale-out data acceleration and analytics while Calm.io is a complete DevOps Automation Platform for modern environments comprised of containers, clouds and micro services.
Aaditya Sood, CEO at Calm.io, said in a statement, “We are excited to join the Nutanix team to work together to eliminate the daunting complexity of legacy data centres by taking a radical, application-centric view of IT infrastructure.”
The venture deploys, manages and operates distributed applications containing containers, virtual machines and binaries from a single console. Calm enables push-button lifecycle automation managed by enterprise policies for governance and compliance.
Calm.io will continue to provide the dedicated support experience via its support portal, which will remain available as the Calm. io team and will work with Nutanix to develop the next generation DevOps automation for Enterprise Cloud.
