Pahadi Beach Goa: Where Every Meal Feels Like a Homely Affair
By Prashant SinghSeptember 21, 2023
Facebook users across the United States woke up Thursday morning, August 14, 2025, to find the popular social media platform malfunctioning. Reports of outages began flooding in just before 4 a.m. EST, according to Downdetector, a website that monitors real-time service disruptions.
By 6:35 a.m., complaints had spread nationwide, with the heaviest concentrations in San Antonio, Dallas, Houston, Tampa, Chicago, and New York. Many users reported being unable to log into their accounts, while others said they could access Facebook but were unable to post content, send messages, or load certain pages.
Downdetector data indicates the disruption affects multiple access points:
50% of reported issues involve the Facebook app
31% involve the website
19% involve login problems
The outage appears to be impacting individuals differently—some can browse their feeds without trouble, while others face complete lockouts.
Despite widespread reports, Meta, Facebook’s parent company, has yet to acknowledge the outage on its official channels. As of publication, Meta’s status page showed “no known issues” with Facebook, leading to speculation that the company may not yet have identified the root cause.
Historically, Facebook and other Meta-owned platforms like Instagram and WhatsApp have experienced outages due to server failures, software updates gone wrong, or connectivity disruptions within their global data center network.
Social media users quickly took to X (formerly Twitter) to vent their frustration, using hashtags like #FacebookDown and #MetaFail. Memes and jokes about “being forced to talk to people in real life” started trending within hours.
While many are hopeful this is a short-lived disruption, some users worry the outage could signal a larger technical overhaul or security issue.
Experts recommend the following steps if you’re having trouble accessing Facebook:
Check Downdetector for live outage updates.
Restart your device and try again.
Clear your browser cache or update the Facebook app.
Switch between Wi-Fi and mobile data to test connectivity.
For now, there is no official estimated time for full restoration of services.
